830AC*000009156* coming home

Written by Felix Furtak.

We are now going a long time back 1998 the leafy suburb of Pinelands, lived Mr. Underhill who was a Lancia collector.

It was so long ago I struggle to recall it, I think he had 2 Gammas. From what I can gather those cars somehow went to Herbie Oberholzer who is better known for his burnt down Flavia 815 coupe.

However  830AC*000009156*  came in from a completely different place, from Brackenfell, where it served as a parts donor.  While it did not have to donate too many parts,  28 years is a long time for a car to sit around, so it certainly is not a happy fellow. A 2 hours session with the Raab&Karcher somewhat improved the situation, but there are multiple rust issues, and most of all I am not so sure if the engine will actually turn. Which kind of dampens my hope to actually DRIVE a GAMMA in my lifetime :(   Is it really better the the golden once that sits here since 1996 ?  The jury is out on that. Come over for a coffee and see for yourself.....   Latest:  Digging in Viglietti Motors database I find an entry from 1990 where it is stated that the bands of the gearbox are end of line..... that may have been the reason why the car died.
